ALL AMERICAN HOMES TO FEATURE 'STORM ROOM' AT JANUARY'S INTERNATIONAL BUILDERS' SHOW
Next Generation Home Will Showcase Systems-Built Technology

Decatur, Ind.-- For the second year in a row, All American Homes, LLC, will build the NextGen Demonstration Home, a nationwide project offering builders and homeowners a dramatic glimpse at the "Next Generation" of homes.

Produced by iShow, a Bellevue, Wash.-based communications company serving the residential construction industry, the NextGen05 Home will demonstrate the latest in homebuilding technology and materials, smart home automation, safety and energy efficiency in an affordable home.

The 2,000 sq. ft. home will be on display at the International Builders' Show, Jan. 13-16, 2005, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

"It's an honor to be selected again to build the NextGen Home, which is really the home of the near-future from a construction and energy-efficiency standpoint. All American is a leader in the latest building technologies, and this is an opportunity to show that our construction methodology provides safety, building efficiency and cost-effectiveness," said Steve Kerr, President of All American Homes.

The NextGen Home's "Safe and Sound" theme and its appearance in Florida take on timely significance in the wake of an exceptionally destructive hurricane season. Many of the features incorporated into the home are designed to safeguard homeowners during a hurricane or other natural disaster, such as a unique 'storm room' that becomes a shelter in case of severe weather.

All American Homes will build this ‘Next Generation Demonstration Home' for the upcoming International Builders' Show in Orlando, Florida. A ‘storm room' built within its 2,000-sq.ft. will emphasize the NextGen Home's “Safe and Sound” theme. All American's Rutherfordton, N.C. plant will begin building the home in mid December for the Builders' Show, scheduled for January 13 – 16, 2005
"This past fall's hurricane season demonstrated the importance of a well constructed, storm resistant home," said Paul Barnett, President of iShow. "Visitors to the NextGen Home at the International Builders' Show will be able to see a home that meets the Fortified…for safer living® standard of the Institute for Business and Home Safety."

The NextGen Home will allow All American, a subsidiary of Coachmen Industries, Inc. (NYSE: COA) and one of the nation's largest builders of systems-built homes, to showcase the many benefits of its systems-built technology. The company builds custom homes offsite in a precision-controlled environment that provides greater quality control, construction speed and protection from the elements. In addition, All American systems-built homes by necessity are built stronger than traditional site-built homes. Because they're transported by highway to the building site and then lifted by crane to be set in place on a permanent foundation, more lumber, nails, fasteners and adhesives are used during the building process to add strength. That great strength was made evident recently in hurricane-besieged Florida. All American homes throughout the storm-ravaged state reportedly suffered no structural damage, losing little more than a few shingles and an occasional piece of siding.

Working from a design by the Seattle office of Mike Rosen Architects, All American will begin construction of the NextGen Home in mid-December at its Rutherfordton, N.C., facility, with online construction scheduled to finish in early January. Then, All American will ship the home to Orlando - already nearly 95 percent complete - for its installation by a crew of skilled craftsmen in time for the start of the builders' show.

"By building the NextGen Home in a climate-controlled facility, we're able to build faster and more efficiently, and with better quality control, than a typical site-built homebuilder. In just about a month, we'll go from the start of construction to a completely set and finished home ready to be lived in. That's the beauty of an All American systems-built custom home - you get more home in less time," said Kerr.

"We're really looking forward to participating in this project, because it allows All American to demonstrate the homebuilding efficiencies of systems-built technology. Though all our homes are built strong, the ones we build for Florida are strong enough to meet that state's strict wind zone requirements. And with the additional safety features we'll build into this home, it will be even stronger and more attractive to homeowners living in severe storm-prone areas," said Neil Sayers, Vice President and General Manager for All American's North Carolina facility.

One of those safety features is a new in-home storm shelter from DuPont™ that offers a family security and protection during a hurricane or tornado. The StormRoom™ with Kevlar® uses the same material that's in bullet-resistant vests - and that's five times stronger than steel - built inside structurally reinforced wall panels. This room will serve as a walk-in closet in the owner's bedroom, then provides a safe haven during a dangerous storm by helping to stop and deflect windborne debris.

Also providing protection will be the StormBreaker Plus™ windows from Simonton Windows®, an impact-resistant product line designed for high wind coastal areas. Combining protection and good looks, All American will wrap the home in James Hardie® siding. This fiber-cement siding resists rain, hail and flying debris; it won't rot or crack; it contains the beauty and character of wood; and it needs little maintenance.

Complementing the "Safe" part of its theme, the NextGen Home will have many innovative "Sound" features as well, making it convenient and energy-efficient. For example, the environmentally friendly Icynene® insulation is a light-density, water-based expanding foam insulation that's non-toxic and completely seals a home to keep out allergens, dust and mold spores.

In the kitchen, the Tonight's Menu® Intelligent Oven is a combination refrigerator/oven that conveniently cooks or cools food, and can be operated over the Internet or by cell phone.

A host of other sponsors will contribute products to the home, including cabinets, a wine cellar, security systems, roofing materials, appliances, entertainment systems and more, all fitting the project's goal of demonstrating safety, energy-efficiency and smart-home convenience. Most products will be installed in the home while it's online in North Carolina.

"Systems-built construction allows us the flexibility to build custom homes with an assortment of special features, such as those that will go into the NextGen Home. Because we build a high quality home that's also strong and safe, we provide homeowners with tremendous security on their investment," said Kerr.
