Elkhart, Ind.--All American Homes, one of the nation’s leading builders of residential systems-built housing, introduced the new Craftsman Collection line of six homes showcasing features of the popular Arts and Crafts Movement, ranging in size from approximately 1,700 to 2,850 square feet. The Craftsman Collection homes show considerable attention to details of the period, from built-in hutches to an optional laundry table with period-style legs and even a built in breakfast nook reminiscent of original Craftsman homes. Though designed to echo a popular style from the previous century, the Craftsman homes possess modern amenities with options to accommodate each individual's sense of style.
The Popular Arts and Crafts Style
“People like the mix of textures,” said John Peters, director of engineering for All American Homes. “Our Craftsman Collection features the gables, dormers, columns, even garage doors and light fixtures with the simple lines indicative of Craftsman or Arts and Crafts era homes.” The Arts & Crafts Movement shaped American architecture by developing styles based on the simpler, more natural structural forms. Peters explained, “From the 1920s to 1950s, during the period’s peak, architects embodying the movement, such as Frank Lloyd Wright, employed a unique expression of styles, which drew inspiration from sources as diverse as the English Cottage and Japanese architectural traditions. But Arts and Crafts is a true American style designed for simple elegance regardless of economic status. The Craftsman style signaled a return to nature and simplicity in response to the excesses of the Victorian Era,” he said.
“The All American Homes Craftsman Collection is designed to appeal to people in a variety of life stages. Whether the home is for a young married couple with children, an empty nester, or a retired couple, the homebuyer can find a floor plan and style that meets their needs and tastes,” said Peters.
Flexible Plug and Play Floor Plans Include a Variety of Options to Suit the Needs and Tastes of Homebuyers
All American Homes’ new Craftsman Collection offers a variety of options for builders and customers planning a new home. Peters explained, “People want to customize, and we help them achieve customization through plug and play options that offer floorplan interchangeability. For example, if a homebuyer falls in love with a floor plan, but the kitchen is not exactly what they want, there may be several kitchen options that fit into the same space that better meet their needs. That same concept may go for a bedroom, den, office or family room.” In addition to interchangeability, the concept allows All American to incorporate features such as porches and garages into the designs of its Craftsman homes. These features used to be considered custom options completed on-site by the builder, but now they can be constructed more efficiently in All American’s state-of-the-art production facilities.
The Craftsman Collection represents a significant advancement in systems-built home design, offering consumers a variety of floorplans in addition to bold designs. All American’s Craftsman Collection is now available through its network of independent builders.
Systems-Built Homes Offer Several Advantages
“Modular” refers to homes built in sections, transported to the home site and assembled. The term “systems-built” better reflects the high-tech way All American Homes builds its modular homes. Homes are built in a state-of-the-art controlled environment, and then shipped more than 70 percent complete to a job site where the sections are set onto the home’s permanent foundation by crane. An independent All American Homes builder then finishes the interior and exterior work as well as any site-built items the homebuyer has requested.
All American Homes are built by experienced craftsmen to meet or exceed state and local building codes and backed with a 10-year structural warranty.
